According to the testimonies of Holocaust survivors Abraham Rosen and Alter Bomse, which they submitted to the Soviet commission that investigated Nazi crimes in Złoczów and the area, 300 Jewish children were buried alive in the Green Market Square during the liquidation of the Złoczów Ghetto in early April 1943. This square had served as a gathering place for Jews slated for death, while 500 more Jews were shot in a meadow in close proximity to the square.
