According to the testimonies of Holocaust survivors Abraham Rosen and Alter Bomse, which they submitted to the Soviet commission that investigated Nazi crimes in Złoczów and the area, 300 Jewish children were buried alive in the Green Market Square during the liquidation of the Złoczów Ghetto in early April 1943. This square had served as a gathering place for Jews slated for death, while 500 more Jews were shot in a meadow in close proximity to the square.

Abram Rosen, who was born in 1908 in Zloczow and lived there during the war years, testifies:
…On April 3, 1943, there was a liquidation of the Jewish ghetto, which had been established on December 1, 1942. The following happened in this period: All the Jews living in the ghetto were gathered in the Green Market square in the town of Złoczów, and robbed of all their valuables. Then, the annihilation of the children began. They were put in bags and buried alive. In this way, some 300 children were annihilated….
Alter Bomse, who was born in 1885 in Zloczow and lived there during the war years, testifies:
…The second place where Jews were shot lies some 100 meters from the Złoczów market, in a meadow. There are two graves there, and some 500 Jews were murdered and buried in them....
