Murder story of Złoczów Jews in the Jasinowce Forest

According to the testimony of Holocaust survivor Shmuel Holander, in December 1942 some 2,000 Jews from Złoczów – mostly children, elderly, and infirm individuals – were shot in the forest near the village of Jasinowce, several kilometers west of Złoczów. According to the same testimony, the victims of the liquidation of the Złoczów Ghetto were murdered at the same site on April 2, 1943.

Shmuel Holander, who lived in Zloczow during the war years, testifies:
…In December 1942, some 2,000 people – the elderly and the infirm, as well as children – were taken by vehicle to Jasinowce, five kilometers from Złoczów, near a forest. There, they were forced to strip naked and shot dead.… On the 26th of Adar Beth [April 2, 1943], the ghetto was liquidated. The rest of the Jews, some 11,000 people, were taken by vehicle to Jasinowce, where they were forced to strip naked and shot dead....
