On April 15, 1943, the Germans carried out a raid in the 13th section of the Smordwa Forest during which they caught 13 Jews, including some children, who had been hiding. The Jews were taken to the nearby village of Smordwa, beaten, and forced by the Germans to dig a pit where they [the Jews] were shot to death in front of residents of the village.

... On April 15, 1943 the Germans carried out a raid in the 13th section of the Smordwa Forest, where they caught 13 [Jews] who had been hiding from the German monsters. Among these 13 were [found the bodies of] three children of different ages: 1. Izik Katzman – 6 years old; 2. Mytel-Perel- 5 years old; 3. Fishbein – 3 years old. All these 13, including the three children, were taken to the village of Smordwa … they were driven through the village and beaten. After that, in the area of a house of a German, they [the Germans] made [them] dig a pit, close to which [local] residents of Smordwa village had been collected. They [the 13 Jews], including the three little children, were shot to death in front of those people.…
