The Michael Nyman Songbook - Ute Lemper

A short film. Boris Smolkin , an Honored Artist of Russia, reads a poem written by Alexey Tkachenko. The poem is based on the events in the ghetto in the city of Glubokoe in Belarus. All the names from the poem are taken from documentary archives. The literary hero of the poem tells about how fascists mock and kill local residents. In hus poem Tkachenko rferse to the murder of city residents by fascists. The film uses paintings by Belarusian artists on the theme of the ghetto, such as Vitaly Dudarenko, Ilya Kleiner and Yuri Крупенков. . All the artists donated their paintings for the film.

Don’t cry when I'm gone

A documentary film. The film’s title "Don’t cry when I’m gone" is taken from a popular Polish song written Wanda Sieradzka, the author of many Polish pop hits. This film is about her. She survived the Warsaw Ghetto and avoided annihilation by the Nazis. After the war, Wanda built an artistic career in Poland. The story of Wanda’s life is being told by her friends and her only son, who got back home to look for the traces of his mother’s past.
