A thriller. On May 27, 1942 the German Reichsprotector of Bohemia/Moravia, the "Hangman" Reinhard Heydrich, died from the bullets of unidentified resistance fighters. The film is the story of Heydrich's assassination and of the search for his assassinators, two Czech underground members. The film was made in the United states of America during the Nazi occupation of the Czech Republic. The film was co-scripted by two German exiles, director Fritz Lang and playwrighter Bertolt Brecht.

Operation Daybreak

Drama about the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich a man of the SS security service and Reichprotector in Bohemia and Moravia. The film reconstructs the steps that led to the assassination of the one who was known by the nickname "the hangman of Prague" on May 27, 1942 by a cell of Czech expatriates who trained secretly in England and also the slaughter in the village of Lidice which followed in reaction to the assassination. Operation Daybreak is based on the book by Alan Burgess "Seven Men at Daybreak" published in 1960.

Barbi, who was known as "The Butcher of Lyons", is responsible for the deaths of members of the French Resistance and thousands of Jews. The film describes his life from childhood in Germany until his trial in 1983, after he succeeded for around 40 years in evading trial. Winner of the 1988 Oscar Award as best film in the documentary film category.
