Stranger to the Language and to the new identity he was given, he is put on top of hot hill by his commander who is trying to turn him into a “sabar”. Distress by longings and by the searing sun, Lulek goes to look for a little bit of shadow. Finally, imiganing himself sailing back to Poland and departing for the last time from his parents.

Mussolini’s regime has already instituted anti-Jewish policies, yet the Finzi Continis are oblivious to the rising storm, and continue to live their life of comfort, unaware of the approaching disaster. “The Garden of the Finzi Continis” received an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1971.
