On September 19 or 20, 1942, in the course of the large-scale murder operation that took place in Brody around Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), German security personnel and Ukrainian auxiliary policemen dragged the patients of the Jewish nursing home into the courtyard of the building, and shot them there.

Samuel Weiler, who was born in 1914 and lived in Brody during the war years, testifies:
…In the morning of September 19, 1942, the town was surrounded by SS men and Ukrainian policemen, who proceeded to break down the doors of houses with axes and drag the people into the street. They began by seizing those [Jews] who were going out to work, secure in the belief that they would come to no harm, since they had stamped certificates. Afterward, all the elderly inmates were dragged out of the nursing home and shot dead in the courtyard of that building.
