Murder Story of Postawy Jews in Kaszyce

A forest in the vicinity of Kaszyce, a village located 4-5 kilometers from Postawy, became a killing site, and the Germans took Jews there to be killed, both singly and in small groups, on several occasions. Thus, on July 3, 1941, several Jews from Postawy were shot at the site as part of a group of Soviet activists. In early 1942, the German Gendarmerie shot 55 people (30 women and 25 men) there. The victims, who appear to have been Jewish, were brought to the forest from various places.

... M. I. Borisov and V. P. Osenenko, two residents of the village of Kashitsy [Kaszyce] of the Postawy rural council, told us of the systematic massacres of Soviet citizens that they had witnessed in the Kashitsy Forest, which lies about 4-5 km from Postawy. For instance: in early 1942 the German monsters, under the direction of Gendarmerie chief Schmidt, shot a group of 30 women and 25 men, who had been brought to the forest from elsewhere....

Fanya Rozman, who was born in 1890 in Postawy and lived there during the war years, testifies:
…Circa July 3, 1941, my father, Wulf Fridman, and my two brothers, Movsha and Yakub Fridman, together with Olya Suvich, Chava Saiper, Broida, and a lawyer whose last name is unknown to me... were arrested as Soviet officers. On the same day, they were shot in the forest 3 km from the town of Postawy, near the village of Kashitsy [Kaszyce]....
