On September 22, 1941, German officers rounded up some 300 Jews, many of whom were refugees from elsewhere, and took them out of town, toward the beet storage area. The Jews were held in the storehouse, and then taken out in groups of 10, to be shot next to the bomb craters that dotted the area.
