On November 22, 1941, all the Jews were summoned to the Gestapo building on the pretext that they were to be evacuated to Kremenchug. Those Jews who had tried to hide elsewhere in the town were found and taken to the same location. The 3,500 Jews were then led to Strunkovka, 3 kilometers northeast of the town, where they were all shot in a deep ravine.
