Different sources indicate that between 150 and 230 young Jewish men from Berezino were shot during the murder operation of August - September 1941 (according to other sources, at the beginning of 1942). Fearful of Jewish resistance, the Germans took all the young men some six kilometers out of the town and there, between the villages of Novoselki and Pogost, 50 meters from the Minsk-Mogilev Highway, killed them. They then announced to the local population that they had liquidated a partisan unit.
