On July 23, 1941 the Germans and Lithuanians loaded about 100 Jews from Kėdainiai onto six trucks on the pretext that they were being transported for work. The Jews were taken to the village of Taučiūnai, approximately 10 kilometers from Kėdainiai, and shot.

Abe Lison, born in Kėdainiai, testified:
The friends who survived began to make inquiries about the main Lithuanian murderers in order to find out the fate of their fellow Jews. However, they didn't succeed in learning anything. Then the friends hired a Lithuanian expert for a large fee to find out what had happened to the 200 Jews. The intermediary immediately brought back the answer: all 200 were taken on the same day, July 23, to Keydan [Kėdainiai], [i.e.] to a place 10 kilometers from the town, near the village of Taučiūnai, and were shot there. At first the [surviving] Jews did not believe this, but afterwards they did.
