The Jewish police was in charge of order maintenance within the ghetto domain. The Jewish police included, among other departments, a criminal investigation department (the "kripo"), a preliminary inquiry department, the prosecutor's office, and legal department.
The police took part in the "Sperre" - the deportation of the elderly, the sick and children under the age of ten from the ghetto in September 1942.
During the deportation, about 180 children were hidden, among them - children of policemen.
