"March will long be remembered in the annals of the ghetto as the month of resettlement. From morning on, for twenty-four hours nonstop, processions of deportees headed for Marysin," noted the Ghetto Chronicle.

Heniek Fogel, a nineteen-year old boy from the Łódź ghetto, wrote in his diary on March 30, 1942 that each work department had to give away 30 percent of its employees: "Now," he wrote, "everyone goes, with no exception—workers, regular clerks, etc." ...
