After the occupation of the village by the Germans, the local policemen and the German military policemen began to cooperate. The German commander ordered the Jews to gather at the Stavropolstroy (local construction company) building.
The occupiers told the Jewish evacuees that they had to prepare for evacuation to another place, outside the county, where they would work for the occupying authorities.
240 Jews gathered at the designated site on September 25, 1942, and were held there for two days without water, food, or sanitation. Then, a truck arrived, and the people realized that they were going to be killed. They tried to resist, but were beaten with rifle butts. They were then taken to the Novy Trud collective farm. There, they had to strip naked and enter a barn of the collective farm. They were then shot dead inside the barn, and their bodies were thrown into a pit that had been dug in advance. Afterward, the pit was covered with a thin layer of soil.
