In the fall of 1941 several hundred Jews living in Brovary were rounded up and deported to Kiev, about 20 kilometers southwest of the town. There they were shot to death at the Babi Yar ravine by members of either Sonderkommando 4a or Einsatzkommando 5 of Einsatzgruppe C.
