Ukraine (USSR)
In October (according to other sources, in November),1941 the local occupation authorities ordered the Jewish population to assemble at the town’s market square. The 460 Jews who turned up brought with them valuables, warm clothes, and some food since they were told they were going to be transported to Lubny to work there. However, instead they were forced to walk to a killing site 600 meters from the town and were shot to death there.

German Reports from Khorol
The court of Regensburg, Germany reported in March, 1972 Reserve Police Battalion 45 was stationed in Khorol during the period from October 23, 1941 to November 13,1941. It received an order to annihilate the [local] Jews according to the usual plan. In order to implement the operation it was decided to put up, along with the local authorities, a poster that ordered them [the Jews] to assemble at a specific location in the town for the purpose of relocation. An abandoned old road outside of the town was selected as the shooting site. Everyone was taken to the designated shooting site on foot. They were people of different ages and both men and women. Those who were about to be shot had to lie with their faces down and were shot by police in the back of the neck. On their way to the shooting site some of the people understood that they and their fellows were going to be shot. ….At least 50 Jews were shot in this way. One witness stated that between 50 and 100 Jews were killed there.
