Kupiczow

Prior to World War II several dozen Jewish families were living in Kupiczów. After 1939 some refugees from Nazi-occupied Poland apparently fled to the village. Kupiczów was occupied by the Germans in late June 1941. Sometime in 1942 the Jews of the town, as well as Jews from nearby localities including Kulichevo, were taken to the ghetto in the nearby village of Jeżieżany (Ozierany). Apparently in August 1942, the inmates of the ghetto, mainly women and children, were taken to a location near Sushibaba village, where they were shot to death by a German urban order police (Schutzpolizei) unit. Kupiczów was liberated by the Red Army in July 1944.
