Apparently there were no Jews living in Plodovitoye before the war. The village was occupied in July 1942. Between the beginning of the war and the occupation of the village some Jews endangered by the Axis advance evidently fled to Plodovitoye. According to some sources these Jewish refugees were arrested in the vicinity of the village by the Germans and then shot by them. Other sources say 50 Jewish evacuees from the Stalingrad area were shot by Romanian soldiers in the village.
Plodovitoye was liberated by the Red Army in early January 1943.
