Pogar
Russia (USSR)
Jewish settlement in Pogar apparently began in the 18th century. In 1897 Pogar's 1,159 Jews comprised 23 percent of the total population. During the Soviet period the number of the Jews in Pogar declined: by 1939 its 276 Jews comprised only 5 percent of the total population.

The town was occupied by German troops in mid-August 1941. The Jewish population was liquidated in November 1941.

Pogar was liberated by the Red Army in mid-September 1943.
