Skadovsk
Ukraine (USSR)
The first Jews seem to have settled in Skadovsk immediately after the establishment of the town in the late 19th Century. Most of the local Jews were merchants, artisans, or agricultural workers.

In 1939, Skadovsk was home to 201 Jews, who made up 3 percent of the total population.

Following the German invasion of the USSR, some Jewish refugees from the western regions of the country arrived in Skadovsk.

The town was occupied by German troops on September 13, 1941. In September or October 1941 (December 1941, according to Soviet reports), all the Jews of Skadovsk – natives and refugees alike, 250-350 people in total – were murdered in the vicinity of the town.

Skadovsk was liberated by the Red Army on November 2, 1943.
