In 1939 19 Jews lived in Solenoye, comprising 0.6 percent of the total population. A total of 121 Jews lived in all of Solenoye County. Solenoye was occupied by the Germans on August 18, 1941. Many of the Jews succeeded in leaving the county before the arrival of the German forces. On February 9, 1942 about 50 Jews from Solenoye and the County were held prisoner in the village and shot three days later, north of Solenoye. Solenoye was liberated by the Red Army on October 26, 1943.
