On February 9, 1942 about 50 Jews of all ages and both sexes, from Solenoye itself and the County, were assembled at the police station in Solenoye. There they were held for three days. Then on February 12, 1942 they were taken to a pit about one kilometer north of Solenoye and shot to death. The perpetrators of the massacre were apparently members of the Solenoye police force.

According to eyewitnesses, on February 9, 1942 all the Jews of Solenoye County who did not succeed in leaving in time were forced into the police station so that all of the Jews, irrespective of age or sex, were forced together. After 3 days of imprisonment, all 49 detainees were shot in a pit one kilometer north of the village of Solenoye.
During excavation of the pit 49 bodies were exhumed, including the body of a nursing infant, 6 bodies of children age 4-8; 6 bodies of youngsters aged 12 to 16; and 21 bodies of adult females, and 15 bodies of adult males....
