Ak Sheikh
Russia (USSR)
Jews started to settle in the Ak Sheikh area in the 1920s. In 1939 597 Jews lived in Ak Sheikh County, comprising 4 percent of the total population; 58 Jews lived in Ak Sheikh itself. According to the testimony of a local resident, all the Jews succeeded in leaving Ak Sheikh before the arrival of the German forces and only Jews brought to the village from elsewhere in 1941 were murdered there. Neither the exact date of these murders nor the number of Jews murdered on the outskirts of Ak Sheikh is known.

Ak Sheikh was liberated by the Red Army on April 13, 1944.

After the war the name of the village was changed to Rozdolne.
