Traces of Jewish life in Obchuga go back to the first half of the 19th century. In 1923 local Jews numbered 272, comprising 40 percent of the total population. Most of Obchuga's Jews were small-scale traders or artisans; others were engaged in agriculture.
Obchuga was occupied by the Germans at the beginning of July 1941. The Jews were concentrated in one street and in May 1942 they were shot in a nearby forest
Obchuga was liberated by the Red Army on June 27, 1944.
