Karpachi
Belorussia (USSR)
Before World War II the village of Karpachi had about 20 Jewish households and only two Belorusian families. Most inhabitants of the village worked on the Jewish Collective Farm named after Ernest Thaelmann. Karpachi was occupied by the Germans in August 1941 and the Jews were forced to wear special badges. They were killed in one mass murder operation. In September 1943 the Germans burned down all the houses in Karpachi. That was the end of the village. Today a new village, Konokhovka, exists in its place.
