Rina was born in the Kowno ghetto on February 25, 1942. Her mother, Rivka Bernstein, perished in the ninth Fort with her two elder children. She threw Rina beyond the ghetto wall, and Rina survived. Rina died in the United States in July 2,000. Masha Erlianski lived in Israel.

Levy Szwartz perished during the war. He had a sister named Freida Bogelman. Levy Feifer took the photograph to Eretz Israel.

Most of the photographed perished. Family relations: great-grandmother of the submitter - Freida Bernstein - is the mother of the grandfather Yaakov and his sister Breina Duchin. Rivka married Szmuel and they lived in kretinga. During the war Szmuel was a soldier in the Red Army. They moved to Kovno. Rivka perished with two of the children in the 9th Fort. She wrapped the youngest girl, Rina, with tattered garments and threw her beyond the wall. Rina survived and later lived in the United States. Szmuel, too, survived.
