The windows are marked with the letter V, which stands for the word "Victory". In the summer of 1941 The Czech population received an order from the Germans to post this mark as a sign of its belief and support of the German victory. The photograph was published in the book "Prague in the Shadow of the Swastika" by Mac Donald Callun, p. 131.

Jewish workers of the chamber of the trustee Treuhandstelle did the collecting. This photo is also found in the book: Mac Donald Callun: Prague in the Shadow of the Swastika, p. 116. The property was taken to the storages of the Jewish community, where it was renovated and given to the Germans.

In January 1942, shortly after the establishment of the Terezin ghetto, the deportations to death began. About 88,000 of the ghetto Jews were sent to the extermination camps. 4,157 are known to have survived.
