Warsaw, Poland, Liberated Jewish POWs eating in a gathering hall on 34 Jerska Street.
A dining hall at the gathering point for liberated Jewish POWs at Jerska 34. The Jews were soldiers in the Polish Army who had fallen prisoner in the fighting against the German Army. In late 1939 the Germans started releasing the small number of Jewish POWs who were still alive, and who were from Polish areas then under German occupation. They were sent to the ghettos in the areas in which they lived.

Warsaw, Poland, 25/04/1940, An infirmary at the gathering point for liberated Jewish POWs.
The infirmary was located at S-to Jerska 34. On the chalkboard is a list, dated 25.04.1940, of the patients of that day: Gilezynski, Elijasz; Merenhole, Janil; Bergerson, Josef; Wigutow, Jan and Okiader, Wiktor. The Jews were soldiers in the Polish Army who had fallen prisoner in the fighting against the German Army. In late 1939 the Germans started releasing the small number of Jewish POWs who were still alive, and who were from Polish areas then under German occupation. They were sent to the ghettos in the areas in which they lived.
