This documentary tracks the excavations carried out adjacent to the Auschwitz extermination camp. The search is for holy artifacts and art treasures buried near the town’s synagogue by the local Jews when the Germany army invaded. Today there is a forest in the place where the synagogue once stood. The search took 4 years and is documented in this film. The film focuses on the relationships that developed between the Israeli and Polish workers in the shadow of the death camp.

A short documentary film. The holy books of the synagogue in Leeuwarden were hidden during the war and in 1965 they were transferred to Kfar Batya in Israel. The synagogue of Leeuwarden, the archivist August Corree transferred the books to the archives of the city of Franeker. One teacher at the local gymnasium, Hartog Beem, realized the danger, and hid the scrolls in the library of the University of Franeker.
