A short documentary film. The holy books of the synagogue in Leeuwarden were hidden during the war and in 1965 they were transferred to Kfar Batya in Israel. The synagogue of Leeuwarden, the archivist August Corree transferred the books to the archives of the city of Franeker. One teacher at the local gymnasium, Hartog Beem, realized the danger, and hid the scrolls in the library of the University of Franeker. In 1942, the pastor of Berlicum, a man named Offers took the books and hid them in his church Berlicum, and later with one of his community members: Bindert Bosma, an underground man. After the war, in 1965, they were transferred to the village of Batya, together with the bima, the Ark and other relics of the Leeuwarden Synagogue.
In 1965 a film was produced in U.S.A. called The Scrolls of Leeuwarden
