Bill Roberts, an American radio commentator station in Berlin in the months before Pearl Harbor. Having witnessed Nazi brutalities first hand, Roberts hopes to alert his listeners of impending dangers, and does so by sending out coded messages during his broadcasts. The Gestapo begins to suspect something and assigns glamorous secret agent Karen Hauen (Virginia Gilmore) to spy on Roberts. When she discovers that her own father (Erwin Kaiser) is supplying Roberts with vital secrets, she turns her back on the Nazis and joins our hero in his efforts.

He was injured in World War 1 and recovered under the care of Dr Emil Bettelheim who discovers that his charismatic patient has telepathic powers that can help people with suicidal tendencies. After the war, Schneider changes his name to Eric Jan Hanussen and begins to perform as a hypnotists. He always speaks the truth, something that catches the attention of the Nazis. Even though Hanussen predicts the rise of the Nazis to power, his own future is uncertain.

Based on “The Death and Life of Dith Pran”, the 1980 New York Times article by Sydney Schanberg, a Pulitzer prize winner, this drama tells of the friendship between Schanberg and his Cambodian assistant, Dith Pran, during the Khmer Rouge and dictator Pol Pot Regime. The film begins in May 1973, in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.
