The film deals with Transnistria, a region under Romanian/German control in south west Ukraine which was annexed to Romania in return for its participation in the war against the Soviet Union. In Transnistria Jews were concentrated in hundreds of camps and ghettos and tens of thousands died of hunger, cold and disease.
