Who Counted Them ?

The film deals with Transnistria, a region under Romanian/German control in south west Ukraine which was annexed to Romania in return for its participation in the war against the Soviet Union. In Transnistria Jews were concentrated in hundreds of camps and ghettos and tens of thousands died of hunger, cold and disease. The film describes fascism in Romania, deportation of the Jews, terrorism and murder in the camps, rescue of the orphans of Transnistria. It includes testimonies of survivors most of whom where children and youth during the Holocaust, historians' analysis, connecting parts by the actress and singer Ruth Levin, and archival films.
