After the German attack on the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941, the Reich Commissariat Ukraine was established on September 1, 1941.
At the beginning, its borders were the Generalgovernement in the west, the Dnjestr river in the south, the Slutsch and the Horyn rivers to the East, and the Reich Commissariat Ostland in the north.
