On 31/01/1941 Helena’s first son was born while Germans searched for town’s men. Helena’s husband safely hid under her birthing bed. After the establishment of the ghetto in Zdolbuniow in 1942 Helena’s husband’s insisted on escape while Helena hesitated due to the young infant, lack of funds and no destination.
