Transport J left Prague (Praha) on December 4, 1941, and arrived in Theresienstadt on the same day. It consisted of approximately 1,000 Jews.
According to Josef Klein, who was deported from Prague to Theresienstadt, this transport was registered as transport “J”, but was also known as transport Ak2 (Aufbaukommando: Work detail). Like transport Ak, which left Prague to Theresiensatd in late November 1941, it consisted of single young men, who were assigned to construction work in the Ghetto.
In his testimony Klein recalls “I received the summons on December 18th or 19th 1941. I reported to the collection point along with 1000 bachelors […] the collection point was at […] the fair grounds […] it a had a roof […] concrete floor […] the deportations were carried out from this place. It was near a train station, we crossed the street and walked to the station. At the station we boarded regular passenger cars, not freight cars. We arrived in a place near Terezin, which was not connected to the rail lines yet. We walked two –three KM toTerezin […] we were led by the Czech Gendarmerie, it was responsible to guard the deportees […] they did not harm us, it was their task to make sure that every transport arrived and that no one would escape […]”...
