Transport left Prague to Theresienstadt on July 5, 1943. It consisted of approx. 603 Jews. Excerpt from the testimony by Martha Goldberg: We were issued numbers. This was transport “D”. Every transport was marked by a letter and numbers. I received No. D121. We hung cardboard signs with the numbers around our necks. Mother was D122, Father received 119 and my brother got 120 […] We received the numbers and were led in to a large hall. People were with their belongings and wept, old people and women carrying babies […] they kept registering […] we had to hand over everything, even our personal belonging s like rings […] There were thousands of people. We weren’t given any food. The hygiene conditions were very poor […] there was no drinking or bathing water […] we remained on the floor for four days […] children screamed and mothers were worried. It was very difficult. SS and Gestapo men were present and delivered occasional beatings on account of forms of behavior that were not to their liking […] After four days […] the train finally came […] we were placed in the cars […] these were not regular trains [..] we were brought to a place called Bohusovice, it was the nearest station to Theresienstadt. We had to march by foot in rows from there to Theresienstadt […]...
