Transport XXXIII left the Radegast (Radogoszcz) station on the morning of March 26, 1942. This was the forty-seventh transport of Jews from the Łódź ghetto to Chełmno since the deportations began in January 1942. There were 1,001 Jews on the train.[1]

On that same day, Dawid Sierakowiak (b.1927) noted in his diary:

"Rumkowski posted announcements cautioning against believing rumors that say the deportations have stopped, because they are continuing. Again total confusing. The deportations are in progress, while the workshops are receiving huge orders, and there is enough work for several months."[2]...
