The Lost Synagogue of Ioannina

A documentary. Ioannina, Greece had two synagogues before WWII. The Nazi’s desecrated the newer synagogue, Kal Kadosh Hadash, by using it as a stable. It was then razed by the city after the war to accommodate the remnant of returning Jews with living space. Few remember the original. The film is dedicated to its memory. Ioannina second synagogue KAL KADOSH HADASH built in 1840 and occupying this sacred ground, was desegrated by the Nazis and finally replaced with this series of buildings, knows as the Jewish quarter, in 1960.
