Murder story of Krasnodon Jews in the Krasnodon Park

In October 1942, the auxiliary police in Krasnodon arrested sixty Jewish people – men, women, and children – and took them to the local police station. The Jews were held in the courtyard of the police station for three days. At 11 AM on the third day, they were loaded onto some vehicles and driven to the town park, where they were shot dead with machine guns.

A testimony about Vasiliy Podtynnyy, who was born in 1917, served in the Krasnodon auxiliary police during the war years, and was accused of collaborating with the German occupying authorities:
In October 1942, Podtynnyy, who was then the district police officer on duty, directly supervised the arrest of some sixty people of Jewish nationality, their delivery to the police station, and their detention there. [These Jews] were later shot in the municipal park in Krasnodon.
