In February 1942, the occupying authorities registered all the Jews in the county. That same month saw the shooting of 1,108 local Jews – including the Jews of Podvysokoe, who were killed in the vicinity of the town. The number of victims from this particular town is unknown, but it must have included the few Jews who had been left in the area by the time of its occupation.

In February 1942, at the behest of Gebietskommissar Naimar, the country chief Koval ordered the registration of all the Jews in the county. That same month, 1,108 individuals – Soviet citizens of Jewish nationality, including little children – were shot dead in the Podvysokoe County upon the orders of the Gebietskommissar. The massacre took place in the villages of… and Podvysokoe. The perpetrators were police chief Golovko, who has retreated with the Germans; police inspector Chernyavskii, and deputy police chief Kubets. Two German officers were present at the shooting.
