During the occupation period, probably in November 1942, the German administration ordered a registration of the Jews of Tikhoretsk.
319 Jews were arrested by the local police, taken to the cellars of the police station, and held there for several hours. They were then divided into three separate groups, numbering approximately 186, ninety-six, and thirty-seven people, respectively. One by one, the groups were led to the ditches next to the police station. The victims had to strip naked and lie down in the ditches, whereupon the German soldiers shot them dead with machine guns. As soon as the first group had been shot, the second batch of Jews were forced to undress and lie down atop the bodies of their predecessors. They were then shot dead by the Germans with their machine guns. This done, the last group, too, was prepared for execution; however, seven Jews from this group managed to escape and survived. Thus, the Germans, with the assistance of the local police, murdered a total of 312 Jewish evacuees.

The atrocities of the German gangster army against the peaceful civilians reached their apex. The Hitlerite cannibals executed 316 Jews and more than 100 Russians, Ukrainians, and other individuals of different nationalities.
The eyewitness Nikolai Fashko and the Jew Yaakov Leybovitch Zel, who had barely escaped certain death, told that the Jewish residents had been executed with a cruelty that put the Medieval Inquisition to shame. The Germans began by finding out who the Jewish nationals were. Afterward, all the Jews were taken to the cellar of the police station, and then led in three batches to the place of execution. The first batch numbered about 186 people, followed by batches of ninety-six and thirty-seven people. The first and second batches were forced to strip naked, and then ordered to lie down in the ditch. The fascist butchers proceeded to shoot them dead with machine guns.
[When the first batch had been shot], the second batch of victims had to lie down atop the uncovered bodies of their predecessors, and were shot dead in turn. Seven people from the third batch were able to escape. The rest of the third batch were shot dead, and their bodies were not removed.
