According to a Soviet report and some testimonies, several dozen “peaceful residents” of Volchansk, of all ages and of both sexes (probably including both Jews and non-Jews), were shot by the Germans on charges of "subversive activity." The shootings took place at anti-tank trenches in the forests in or around Volchansk, and the victims were shot in groups. The exact dates of these massacres and the identity of the perpetrators are unknown.
