The ChGK report from Bogodukhov:
חקירת פשעי הנאצים בתחום ברית-המועצות: גורל יהודים ואחרים בעיר BOGODUKHOV.
…On June 23, 1942 at 7 AM, 35 people from the town of Bogodukhov and the Bogodukhov County were shot by German gendarmes in a forest near the Bogodukhov tannery…. There was a depression sized 3x4 meters in a pine forest half a kilometer from the tannery, on the right side of the road leading to Semenov Yar. Its exhumation has revealed various human bones, as well as two ID cards issued by the Bogodukhov County department of the NKVD to Sima Naumovna Munich… and Luibov Mikhailovna Yurovskaya…, both of whom appear on the lists of executed persons. [Stepan] Zmievskiy, who attended the exhumation of the citizens, has told the Commission that, at the time, he was passing near the shooting site, and could hear the submachine gun volleys. The citizen Nazarenko has testified that, after the shooting, policemen [stood] on the road and offered the clothes of the executed persons for sale to passersby. From the testimonies of the eyewitnesses, the Commission has concluded that the shooting was carried out on the orders of the newly arrived town commandant, Braun, who had declared that he would assume control over the town only after the Jews had been shot. The shooting was carried out by Commandant Braun himself, together with the executioner of the town of Bogodukhov, Timofei Kakasenko, and other policemen. On the basis of the abovementioned facts, the Commission has determined that the [following] citizens were shot: Ya. I. Khavkin, Khavkina, I.I. Bekker, R.P. Kaufman, A.P. Kaufman, M.A. Peker, M.N.
