The cemetery [burial site] marked as'1' lies southeast of the village of Logishin [Łahiszyn] (30 meters east of the Catholic cemetery). 500 people were shot there, and were then buried in one mass grave measuring 3x10 [meters].
From the testimony of Nikolay Maksimchuk, who was born in 1889 in Łahiszyn and lived there during the war years:
In late June 1941, the village of Logishino [Łahiszyn] was occupied by the German-Fascist invaders. From the very first day of the occupation, the German punitive units began to commit atrocities against the peaceful civilians of Logishino [Łahiszyn] and the Soviet activists. I personally witnessed the atrocities committed by the Fascists. In August 1941,a German punitive squad numbering as many as 50 people arrived in our village of Łahiszyn. They looted on a massive scale and shot a great number of [people] of Jewish origin. A total of 500 Jewish people were shot by the German squad in two days. The Germans confiscated [the victims'] best clothes and valuables.
