At the behest of the German authorities, the local police arrested approximately 50 Jewish evacuees and Communist Party members. The prisoners were initially held under guard at the mill in Spasskoye, then taken to a nearby quarry, approximately two kilometers from the village, and shot by local policemen.

The fascist villains killed Maria Minakova, a farmer from the Avant-Garde collective farm, and her two children, the 5-year-old Vera and the 2-year-old Roza. They also tortured and shot the farmers L.Ch. Kazavchinsky and R. Kazavchinskaya. Furthermore, the passing German officers and soldiers, whose first and last names could not be recovered, brutally tortured the evacuees living in the village of Spasskoye – including 44 women, men of different ages, and children (whose first and last names could not be recovered).
