Murder story of Nevinnomyssk Jews at the Nevinnomyssk House Building Plant (Gas Vans)

Murder Site
House Building Plant (DSK) (Gas Vans)
Russia (USSR)
In the last days of September 1942, the Jewish residents of the town were ordered to assemble at the local House Building Plant (DSK). There, the Jews were forced to strip naked. Their possessions and valuables were confiscated by the German military. Afterward, a truck drove into the courtyard of the House Building Plant. The vehicle was hermetically sealed, having been converted into a gas van. The Jews had to enter the cargo compartment of the truck. The compartment was then hermetically sealed, and the truck drove away. Some 30 people would be forced into the truck each time. The bodies of the gassed individuals would be taken about 3 kilometers out of the town and thrown into an anti-tank trench. After about 485 Jewish civilians had been murdered with gas, their grave was covered with soil.

State Extraordinary Commission for Investigation of Nazi War Crimes in the Soviet Union (ChGK) documentation dated 1943, regarding the murder and persecution of Jews in Ordzhonikidzevskiy Kray, 1942-1943
[Hereby] I submit [my testimony] to the regional Commission, about the atrocities committed by the German-Fascist occupiers against the Jewish population in the town of Nevinnomyssk in late September 1942. The Jews – including men, women, and children – were chased into the building of the DSK (the House Building Plant). A large truck drove into the courtyard of the DSK; that building had been cordoned off, and it was forbidden to enter it. The vehicle was driven very near the door of the DSK, and the naked Jews – men, women, and children – had to enter the vehicle. We could hear the screams and cries of the Jewish people. When the vehicle had been filled with people, the doors were tightly closed, and the screams could not be heard anymore....

State Extraordinary Commission for Investigation of Nazi War Crimes in the Soviet Union (ChGK) documentation dated 1943, regarding the murder and persecution of Jews in Ordzhonikidzevskiy Kray, 1942-1943
...From August 5, 1942 until January 20, 1943, the following took place: Over these 5.5 months, the German-Fascist occupiers killed the peaceful citizens; in this case, they used the most brutal methods of execution against their victims. With hideous cruelty, the Hitlerites began the extermination of the peaceful citizens; the Jewish population was herded, in groups of 20-30, into the body of a hermetically sealed vehicle. They were then killed with gas, with over 100 people being murdered in this fashion. The Hitlerite soldiers and officers took the clothes of those citizens and their personal belongings.... The Hitlerites killed a total of more than 510 people in this town....
