After occupying Molotovskoye, the Germans began to search for Jewish refugees in the village. On August 12, between 5-7 PM, the Germans loaded seventy Jewish (and possibly some non-Jewish) civilians onto a truck and took them to the old brick factory near the cemetery in Molotovskoye. Most of the arrestees were women and children aged 6-15, as well as toddlers carried in their mothers' arms. The Germans forced the victims to jump into a pit that had been dug in the area of the brick factory. The soldiers then squatted and shot the Jews dead.
Children were thrown into the pit alive. Afterward, the Germans buried them all, the dead and the living alike. After massacring the women and children, the occupiers shot the elderly people at the same site.
Following the liberation of the village, the Extraordinary Commission found 360 corpses in the pit at the brick factory. Apparently, the Germans had used it to execute other Jewish and non-Jewish civilians, Communists, and Soviet POWs.

They were preceded by a motor vehicle with four Germans inside. There were two Germans in front [of the group], two Germans to each side of it, and two behind [the group]. All of them were armed. Not far from the cemetery, the German bandits stopped the group of doomed people and drove them into a pit at the former brick factory. Sounds of machine gun fire were then heard. Moans and screams were coming from the wounded ones. After this first execution, the Hitlerites massacred the innocent elderly people....
