According to some sources the first shooting of Yemilchino Jews was carried out in July 1941 when all the pupils of the Jewish classes of the local school were shot, apparently at the same time as several hundred POWs from the adjacent camp. The exact date and the number of Jewish victims are unknown. Since some testimonies report that shootings were carried out next to the storehouses of a former military unit the victims of the July 1941 shooting were apparently murdered at that site.

We are now in the place of the former military unit premises. Before the war there used to be grain storehouses. As soon as the Great Patriotic War [sic] began the most innocent people of the Jewish origin were shot here.
